warnmcr: black friday...

After a dark, grey, fuggy week, today sees a series of imports from the west: an almost Icelandic short clear, crisp day - just in time for the annual imported americana consumerfest.  For those not battling into stores in search of an elusive or illusory bargain, this weekend you might also have to battle for tickets for Keisha Thompson's Man On The Moon at Contact (until 25 Nov, also at the HUB, Leeds on Sun 26 Nov); and Company Chameleon's Illuminate at Manchester Central Library Fri 24 + Sat 25 Nov (waiting list only). Alternatively there's Sonya Moorehead's Feral at The Met, Bury on Sat 25 Nov.

Next week (w/c 27 Nov) Contact welcomes Dickie Beau's Re-member Me on Tue 28 + Wed 29 Nov; and Mawaan Rizwan's Twerk in Progress on Sat 2 Dec; Forced Entertainment's Real Magic is at HOME (29 Nov-1 Dec); or for some alternative festiveness Tangled Dance's Frosted by Magic is at Heaton Hall (weekends til 17 Dec).  Further afield, on Fri 1 Dec Greg Wohead's Call It A Day (wip) is at Bradford Theatre in the Mill and Jamal Gerald's Dogmatic is at Live Art Bistro, Leeds (which also has Hannah Mook + XVElastin's Me and My Whale (wip) on Sat 2 Dec).

The following week (w/c 4 Dec) sees Powder Keg at Contact; and Meow Meow, Jinkx Monsoon + Major Scales and Tiger Lilies at HOME. Meanwhile Top Joe is at Live Art Bistro and the Lightwaves Festival opens on Salford Quays.

I'm off to try and resist the lure of the giant TV 'bargain'..!

best
