warnmcr: coming of age - would you let this event vote..?

After a bit of a slow start in performance world, stand by as Autumn is getting serious... Whilst everywhere seems suddenly to be on overdrive, I think we at Word of Warning can claim the crown for overdoing it with 28 pieces in a week - even if 27 of them are in the one day!  Yes, Emergency officially turns 18 next weekend - whether an event that bonkers should be accorded voting rights is debatable, then again, based on recent electoral outcomes... maybe it should!

Before that, this weekend there's still time to head for the hills for AND Festival (til Sun 24 Sep) including Waterlicht, Heavy Metal Detector; Listening To The Dark Tour and Evening Event; or closer to home you can catch We're Not Really Here at Contact til 23 Sept; Conor Aylward's Learning To Swim On An Ironing Board on Sat 23 + 30 Sep in the Redbricks, Hulme and RashDash's Two Man Show at the Royal Exchange on Sat 23 Sep.

Next week (w/c 25 Sep) of course sees the start of Word of Warning's Autumn/Winter 2017 with a double whammy:
Jo Bannon's Alba - an extraordinary meditation on paleness - at The Lowry on Wed 27 Sep and the coming of age of Emergency on Sat 30 Sep (don't I feel truly old!)

Elsewhere Contact has Sean Cernow's Being Sebastian (25-28 Sep) and Mother's Ruin on Fri 29 Sep; while Jackie Hagan's Cosmic Scallies is at The Royal Exchange Theatre (27 Sep - 14 Oct).  Meanwhile HOME kicks off its Orbit Festival (28 Sep-15 Oct) with Scottee's Bravado (Thu 28 - Sat 30 Sep) and on Sat 30 Sep, Greg Wohead's already sold-out Hurtling and The Backseat of My Car...

The following week (w/c 25 Sep) really goes into overdrive, with a collision between Orbit and Journey's Festival... with offerings including Eurohouse, Palmyra, Instructions for Border Crossing and Selina Thompson at HOME.  Theres's also Christopher Brett Bailey at Contact; Mark Thomas and Mary Pearson at Sale Waterside; and further afield Emma Decent is at Burnley Literary Festival; Laurence Clark and Derailed are at the Arts Centre at Edgehill University; Imitating the Dog are at Axis, Crewe and SH!T Theatre are at Live Art Bistro.

Have a good weekend - hoping to see lots of you on Wednesday at The Lowry for Jo Bannon's Alba and remember, WoW's whole season is Pay What You Decide!

best
