warnmcr: a surreal rollercoaster ride...

Word of Warning... a darkly surreal double bill

Our own surreal roller-coaster of shows continues... forty down and ten to go - but the actual surreal ride to which the subject refers is today's (26 April) double bill at Z-arts featuring
Stuart Silver + Tam Hinton.  From The Mighty Boosh to the world's first plasticine birth, it might just push me over the edge!

Also worth checking out is Mother's Ruin at Contact, also tonight and the Whitworth's Saturday Supplement on Sat 27 April.  Next week sees Idle Motion's That Is All You Need To Know at the Lowry (2-4 May).

On Thursday 2 May, Word of Warning springs (or, in my case, grinds rustily) back into life with seven developing works making-up  Works Ahead at Contact.  On Thu 2 May we have 70/30 Split, Kitty Graham, Joseph Lau, Ellen Turner and on Fri 3 May Lena Simic, Façade Theatre and Wayne Steven Jackson.

Further afield, Live at LICA, Lancaster launches Curate the Campus (29 April - 10 May);  Daniel Bye's The Price of Everything is at Theatre in the Mill, Bradford (2-4 May); and the Jane Packman Company's A Thousand Shards of Glass is at Slung Low's HUB on Sun 5 May.

Following the bank holiday, things to watch out for are Tales of Whatever at the Castle on Wed 8 May, EDge at Z-arts on Thu 9 May and David Toole + Lucy Hind's Extraordinary at Contact on Sat 11 May.

Of course the event of that week will be Word of Warning's co-promotion with Contact of imitating the dog's 6 Degrees Below the Horizon on Thu 9 May.  If a seamless flow of live cinematic images doesn't appeal, you can always come and laugh at us when we finally fall over after our show-marathon!

I'm off to plot interval treats - all I can say is come prepared to be creative with plasticine... please do join us tonight for Stuart and Tam's dark take on the surreal side of life !

best
