So
it's March already and while the 'beast from the east' ravages the
country, here in the unique Manchester central micro-bubble it's being
more of a pest in the west; though it is still functioning as an
effective deterrent to actually going out to a show. Hopefully next
week will bring slightly more enticing travelling conditions, as
crossing the Pennines seems a bit de rigueur at the moment...
This weekend in parts Mancunian, you can still catch Company Chameleon 10 at the Lowry tonight, Fri 2 Mar; the Shamshad Khan-penned Horse + Bamboo's Moonwatcher at the Royal Exchange Theatre (Fri 2 + Sat 3 Mar); and the Free For Arts Festival at Plant NOMA on Sat 3 Mar - more artist info here.
Heading west, Mapdance is at the Arts Centre at Edgehill University, tonight Fri 2 Mar; and, while braving the Pennines to Leeds doesn't seem advisable, for anyone already there - tonight Fri 2 Mar there's This Is Where It's At at Yorkshire Dance; and Git To The Bunker at Live Art Bistro; while on Sun 4 Mar Uncanny Theatre's Outrage is at the HUB.
Next week (w/c 5 Mar) HOME has two shows from Action Hero (the almost sold-out) Extraordinary Rendtion (7-9 Mar) and Slaptalk (Sat 10 Mar); plus Proud and Loud's Affirmations is at Manchester Art Gallery on Thu 8 Mar; while Contact brings CYC + Sh!t Theatre's She Bangs The Drums to MOSI (8-11 Mar).
Further afield, Leeds remains the place to go: Live Art Bistro has Tom Cassani's Somebody Loves You Drive With Care on Thu 8 Mar and Age of The FELINE PURRFECT on Fri 9 Mar. Seven Arts has Horse + Bamboo's Moonwatcher on Fri 9 Mar (also in Rossendale on Sat 10 + Sun 11 Mar); Slung Low's HUB has Best of BE Festival on Sat 10 Mar and Proto-type Theater's The Audit on Sat 10 Mar. Elsewhere, in Liverpool the Playhouse has Mark Thomas's Showtime from the Frontline (8-10 Mar); while Unity has Alice Bunker-Whitney's Place and Chips (Fri 9 + Sat 10 Mar); and in Lancaster, Aliki Chapple's 666 Comments is at The Storey on Sat 10 Mar.
The following week (w/c 12 Mar) Rasa's Handlooms is in a saree shop in Rusholme; while Mark Thomas and Ceci N'est Pas Noire + Clay are at the Lowry. Beyond Mancunia, Akademi and Company Chameleon are at Edgehill; Tin Can People are in Preston; Snakebox are in Leeds; and Commonwealth are in Bradford.
Keep warm and carry on...!
best
