Word of Warning...
Thanks to all who joined us last night for Ria Hartley's Matilda and Me last night at STUN - great to end the season with a sold-out show! Whilst WoW's programme now takes a break til late September, festival season is seriously upon us.
But before that, you can still catch Re:Con's Sensored at Contact, tomorrow, Sat 27 June. It's a day long sensory exploration including Jo Bannon, Frances Kay, Ali Matthews, Façade and more. Starting at 3pm, it's a bit of a lucky dip with lots of one to ones and small capacities, so getting there early to sign up might be a smart move.
Next week sees the start of MIF and I have to confess to being a little miftified by their website - in the office we've reverted to the calendar pages of their brochure to get an overview of what's on! (If you are without a brochure we've posted the calendar pages below!) That said, the main thing that jumps out to me is Wayne McGregor's Tree of Codes (2-10 July) though Ed Atkins's Performance Capture at Manchester Art Gallery might be of some interest.
Flare Festival accompanies the second week of MIF (13-18 July). Recognisable UK names include Sleepwalk Collective, Hannah Sullivan + Figs in Wigs, Rachael Clerke (Clerke + Joy) and Andy Smith plus Jamal Harewood's The Privileged. Alongside these of course are its USP - the whole host of european guests to get to know! Again there's a lot on and the easiest at a glance is possibly either the the brochure or the booking page - performances take place at the Royal Exchange, Contact, Z-arts and the Martin Harris Centre (University) - generally one around lunchtime, one early evening and one normal showtime. The nightly triple bills might be a good place to start if you want to catch something but haven't got the whole week.
Unless something unmissable crops up in the next few weeks, this mailer is going to take a bit of a break and will be back with our quick Edinburgh hints in early August (when we've actually worked out what they are!) and the WoW programme will be back in late September, hopefully in a tower block somewhere in these environs...
Best,
Tamsin
