On this, the eve of the annual student influx, it always feels like the City, or my bit of it at least, is holding its breath, waiting for the autumn to start in earnest...

This weekend, you can still catch Malandra Jacks' Census (until Sat 16 Sep) at Contact (or you could if it wasn't sold-out!)
In Liverpool, Top Joe's Autumn Mass is at the Everyman on Fri 15 Sep; while in Leeds Excessive Human Collective's Discopia is at CLAY on Sat 16 Sep; and in Sheffield, Theatre Deli has Raina Greifer's Manic on Fri 15 and Phil Green's A Good Neet Aht on Sat 16 Sep.

Next week (w/c 18 Sep) sees three nights of Liminal at Manchester School of Theatre (19-21 Sep). Rhum + Clay's Project Dictator is at HOME (20-30 Sep); and Hidden Track's The Cost of Everything is at The Lowry on Fri 21 + Sat 22 Sep. Manchester Independents commissions see a double bill featuring See Me + Kao Hove at Contact on Fri 22 Sep, and Porcelain Delaney's Toilet Paper Diaries at 53Two on Sun 24 Sep.
Elsewhere Bobak Champion's I'm Muslamic Don't Panik is at the Duke's in Lancaster on Thu 21 Sep and ADHD The Musical is at the Unity in Liverpool on Fri 22 Sep.

The following week (w/c 25 Sep) The Lowry has an eclectic mix of Dragons and Earwig. Manchester Independents has Leo & Hyde's dystopian tour of the city plus Hafsah Aneela Bashir and Sam + Shirley Jamil are in Rochdale. Meanwhile, the 23rd Emergency takes over Contact.  For those looking for something more discursive, Michael Pinchbeck's Bunker Talks re-start on Tue 26 Sep at The Salutation.

Further afield there's an Open Stage night in Sheffield, Lydia Cottrell is in Leeds and Pepa Duarte is in Huddersfield.
