warnmcr: budget bingo...

In a week when we're told that the UK economy is strong and not in recession, while half the country is on strike over falling living standards and the remainder is experiencing fiscal drag, the best we can do is look ahead to some, hopefully affordable, art:

IRL:
This weekend, Jade Montserrat's Where We Gather featuring Ella Otomewo, Mandla Rae & Princess Arinola Adegbite is outside Manchester Central Library on Sat 18 Mar (12-2pm).
In Leeds, Bobak Champion's I'm Muslamic Don't Panik is at Leeds Playhouse on Fri 17 + Sat 18 Mar and Say's The Album is at the Riley Theatre on Sat 19 Mar.

Next week (w/c 20 Mar) The Lowry has The Overhead Project's What is Left? on Mon 20 Mar and Dada Masilo's The Sacrifice on Tue 21 + Wed 22 Mar. Rory Aaron's This Town is already sold out at Contact; Yusra Warsama's Of All The Beautiful Things In The World starts its run at HOME (24 Mar - 6 Apr); and Emergence is at the New Adelphi, Salford on Thu 24 Mar. Synagogue Scratch (26 Mar - 23 Apr) kicks off at Manchester Jewish Museum.

The Arts Centre at Edgehill University is busy once more with Little Soldier's Nothing Happens Twice on Tue 21 Mar,  Balbir Singh's Reflections of an Indian Dancer on Wed 22 Mar and Van Huynh Company's Re:birth on Thu 25 Mar. Barrel Organ presents LIVE at Barnsley Civic on Wed 23 Mar and Izzie Major's Curtains, Curtains, Curtains, Curtains, Curtains is at the Cornerstone Theatre, Liverpool on Sun 26 Mar.

The following week (w/c 27 Mar) I haven't spotted much additional in Mancunia, but Avant Garde Dance are in Chester; Black Sheep in Sheffield, Whispered Tales and Top Joe in Liverpool, and Balbir Singh in Leeds. Much further afield (and where I'll be headed in scenes reminiscent of the old National Review of Live Art) Buzzcut Festival is happening in Glasgow 3o Mar- 1 Apr.

Online:
As ever, there's also Unity Online; and there's Lowry Digital, HOMESCREEN + Sadlers Wells Digital Stage and the Word of Warning YouTube.

In the meantime keep checking our News + Information page for more pointers to opportunities and show videos online, and @WarnMcr on Twitter for short-notice performances.
