As the ruling class jets back off to London, leaving us to take the slow train, over the next few weeks we'll be experiencing the legacy of "northern powerhouse" with no fast link to Leeds for Transform - but at least we have Aviva Studios...

  The Commission for New and Old Art's The Long 40s is at the International Anthony Burgess Foundation tonight Fri 6 Oct; while HOME has Two Destination Language's 40/40 on Sat 7 Oct.
In Leeds, Daniel Lukehurst's 1,2 Punch is at Interplay Theatre on Fri 6 Oct; and Invisible Flock's This is a Forest runs 6 Oct - 26 Nov at Moda.

Next week (w/c 9 Oct) Curious Monkey + Hamzeh Al Hussien's Penguin is at HOME (10-12 Oct), Free Your Mind is at Aviva Studios (13 Oct - 5 Nov) and Ailey 2 at The Lowry on Fri 13 + Sat 14 Oct.

Beyond Mancunia, Two Destination Language's 40/40 is in Lancaster Arts on Wed 11 Oct, the Arts Centre at Edgehill University on Thu 12 Oct and Wainsgate Dances in Hebden Bridge on Fri 13 Oct; while The Lighthouse is at Theatre Deli in  Sheffield on Sat 14 Sep.

Over in Leeds, Transform Festival (11-22 Oct) kicks off with Ásrún Mágnúsdóttir's Secrets (Wed 11 + Thu 12 Oct), Aphids' Oh Deer! on Fri 13 + Sat 14 Oct and Cherish Menzo's Dark Matter on Sat 14 Oct. The festival flurry continues in Glasgow with Take Me Somewhere (13-28 Oct) and in Ipswich with SPILL (13-29 Oct).

The following week (w/c 16 Oct) Dibby Theatre is at HOME; Victor Esses at The Lowry and Victoria Melody at The Edge. Frantic Assembly are in Liverpool; Identities in Sheffield; Penguin in Leeds. Also in Leeds, Transform has Miet Warlop, Mexa, Katy Baird, Out of the Blue, Songs for No One and Sottobosco.
