warnmcr: divine decad-ence...

So here we are, at the dawn of a new decade - our oven-ready goose has been well and truly cooked, so let's just hope the twenties aren't too (militaristically) roaring and that immersive screenings of Cabaret (sold-out) aren't omens for society at large.

In performance world, things are still bubbling under so I'm taking this opportunity to brag about Word of Warning's Spring 2020 Season:
We have two visits to The Lowry - firstly on Wed 12 Feb for Harry Clayton-Wright's gasp-inducing Sex Education and secondly on Wed 1 Apr for Jo Bannon’s penetrating We Are Fucked.
New for Spring 2020 is Emergency StopGap on Thu 27 Feb – an evening micro-version of the ever enduring Emergency at the delightfully decrepit NIAMOS, bridging the gap between gallery + theatre to fill the empty months of winter. (Deadline for proposals Fri 17 Jan)
We also makle a return to the Royal Exchange Theatre on 19-21 Mar for a daring + unapologetic examination of religion, pop culture + black representation with Jamal Gerald’s Idol; and to STUN on 23+24 April for the next development of Tania Camara’s Oreo, exploring the masks we don to achieve success in society.
Spring rounds off with the annual Works Ahead, this year in sited form at NIAMOS on 21+22 May. Co-produced with Contact and featuring Will Dickie and Ross McCaffrey, this double bill of new mentored performance is a sneak preview of new works at the start of their journeys.

In the world beyond WoW, next week (w/c 13 Jan) sees a bit of a soft start: with PUSH Festivalat HOME (18 Jan-1 Feb) kicking off on Saturday with Platform Manchester's Hope and Fear. The intriguing Interruptions programme at MMU's Holden Gallery has four pieces over the next fortnight: this week's (14+16 Jan) are video based, but the next two (21 + 23 Jan) are more performative. Further afield, the postponed That Matt Rogers Project (in)CREDIBLE is at CLAY, Leeds on Fri 17 Jan.

The following week (w/c 20 Jan) PUSH has Plaster Cast Theatre and Tania Camara; Interruptions has John-Paul Jones and ARM; The Lowry has https://thelowry.com/whats-on/hiya-anxiety-this-is-not-for-you-ps-sorry-double-bill/ Debs Gatenby; while The Dark Room is in Ormskirk.
