So, another Friday the 13th has dawned, the temperature's dropped, the heavens have finally opened, Trumpton is on my mind and, as we at Word of Warning gear up for some Hazardous behaviour, I find myself fascinated by a certain over-inflated orange blimp...

Meanwhile, so much for taking a break, no sooner had I hit send on the last Weekly Warning, than I discovered the dates for the Royal Exchange's CO:LAB Festival!
Before that, just a reminder that this weekend you can catch Greg Wohead's Celebration Florida at
Warrington Arts Festival tonight, Fri 13 Jul; and Liverpool Biennial's performance events on Sat 14 + Sun 15 Jul - including Kevin Beasley Performance + Suki Seokyeong Kang: Land Sand Strand – Activation at Tate; Taus Makhacheva Sculptural Signature Facial at Blackburne House; and Iacopo Seri - What Is (A drunken meditation on the mystery of existence) at The Playhouse.
Much, much further afield, in Croydon, Tempting Failure is also ongoing to 22 Jul.
Next week, Friday 20th is all go: if you fancy a bit of discussion there's a free symposium at the University of Manchester - Kidnap@20: The Art of Incarceration, exploring Blast Theory's groundbreaking 1998 project (no self-promotion here!). Then there's the aforementioned CO:LAB Festival 2018 (Fri 20-Sun 22 July) at the Royal Exchange Theatre - catching the eye are Ali Wilson + James Monaghan's Over My Dead Body; Amy Lawrence's Tuch; Lydia Cottrell + Michael-Jon Mizra's Altar/Alter;and Ali Matthews + Leo Burtin's The Witching Way.
Plus Waterside Sale has Refract18 Festival including Hawk Dance's Getting From A to B, Chad Taylor's Awakening and Mother's Ruin all on Fri 20 Jul; plus Ellie Dubois's Stuntman on Tue 24 Jul.
I've been trawling the Edinburgh listings and to be frank am not over-enthused. For me, the week to go remains w/c 13 Aug - with the Live Art Bistro ZOO takeover on Wed 15 Aug; and DICE Festival 16-18 Aug at Summerhall - details of which I'll be back with on Fri 27 Jul, alongside my (rather slimmer than usual) long-list.
In the interim - if you've been to a Word of Warning event lately and fancy helping us to know you better, the latest audience survey with Live Art UK is now live!
I'm back off to my darkened crypt to prepare for the impending return of the heatwave...
