As this damp squib of May trickles by, I'm lifting my head momentarily from the shadows of Works Ahead pre-production in an attempt to look beyond the end of my own nose...
Less myopically, this weekend at HOME there's Bertrand Lesca + Nasi Voutsas's One (tonight Fri 10 May) and Peaches Christ's Drag Becomes Her (until tomorrow Sat 11 May); while at The Lowry, Rhiannon Faith's Smack That is also tomorrow, Sat 11 May.
Leeds International Festival also continues with The Grief Series' All That Lives, Feasts tonight, Fri 10 May at the Merrion Centre and Tommy Cash + Yves Tumor's JUICEBOX tomorrow, Sat 11 May at Brewery Green at The Tetley.
Next week (w/c 13 May) sees Word of Warning in action again with the aforementioned Works Ahead 2019 in STUN Studio at Z-arts on Thu 16 + Fri 17 May: a risky night out or a good night in, two explorations of inner conflict, outer division, and the politics of oppression from Mark Croasdale + Avital Raz.
On Sun 19 May, Contact presents the Raze Up showcase at Sale Waterside; while further afield, also on Thu 16 + Fri 17 May (daytime) is Fabiola Santana's A Home for Grief in Lancaster City Centre
The following week (w/c 20 May) Hofesh Schechter and Brian Lobel are at HOME; LBT Huddersfield has a Pairs doublebill; Derelict Mayhem is in Preston and Jamal Gerald is in Bradford
I'm now diving back into a dark box to figure out a world of light and shadow for Works Ahead!
