So,
as September dawns and the illusion of Summer retreats out of view,
it's time for us at Word of Warning to bubble to the surface once more
for our Autumn/Winter 2017 season. A
season that sees its oldest child come of age and earn its crust and a
season where you choose what you want to pay. Tales of displacement and
of fitting in; of home and of what it means to belong; of getting by and
of paying the rent…
We kick off on Wed 27 Sep at The Lowry with Jo Bannon's Alba; followed almost immediately by the eighteenth (yes, really, 18...!) Emergency on Sat 30 Sep at Z-arts. October sees us at STUN Studio at Z-arts for Akeim Toussaint Buck's Windows of Displacement, before returning to The Lowry for Two Destination Language's Declining Solo. The season rounds off with a return to the tower blocks of Salford for a Domestic Edition of Darren Pritchard Dance's Rent Party. The whole season is Pay What You Decide, so never let it be said that cost is a deterrent!
Beyond the world of Warning, performance is just starting to emerge slowly from the summer/Edinburgh bubble...

This weekend you could catch Pool at The Bluecoat, Liverpool (Fri 1, Sat 2 + Fri 8 Sep); or on Sat 2 Sept, Briggsyproduces & Hawk Dance Theatre's Hands On at HOME.
Next week (w/c 4 Sep) Live Art Bistro also gets going with Come Find Us: Me & My Whale.
The following week (w/c 11 Sep), Gecko Theatre's The Wedding lands at HOME; while over in Leeds, West Yorkshire Playhouse kicks off the first festival of the season: Furnace (11-23 Sep) featuring, in its first week, Rachel Mars and Daniel Bye, amongst others.
I'm off to shine up our fizzy pink champagne flyers (in honour of Emergency's 18th) - coming soon to a leaflet rack near you!
