While the rest of the country may be basking in an undertone of summer,
our little corner of the world seems to bask in perpetual grey -
nowhere more so than the WoW office where it is forever winter..!
Nevertheless, the summer season rolls on and this weekend, tonight Fri 16 Jun you can still catch Qasim Riza Shaheen + LaJohn Joseph at HOME, and Powder Keg's Bears at the Royal Exchange (til 18 Jun);
Next week (w/c 19 Jun) sees the Mayers Ensemble What If I Told You? at the Royal Exchange (Mon 19 + Tue 20 Jun); Peter McMaster's 27 at Contact (Tue 20 + Wed 21 Jun); Paper Birds' Mobile in Bury, courtesy of the Met (Fri 23 + Sat 24 Jun); and Art With Heart's Declaration at the Lowry (Sat 24 Jun).
The following week (w/c 26 Jun) there's Sophie Willan at Contact; Derelict Summers in Preston and Siobhan Davies at the Bluecoat. Of course the week also sees the start of MIF, and you may want to check out Nigel Barrett and Louise Mari's Party Skills For the End of the World or the offical opening bash What Is The City But The People? in Piccadilly Gardens. Looking further ahead you really need to hold your breath for the following week as MIF really picks up pace; and is also joined by FLARE17 and WoW's own 24 Hour Party People: Redux - which is now open for booking.
Enjoy the weekend - there's a scurrilous rumour that the sun might actually shine!
