warnmcr: our Turn to dance...

Word of Warning...

So, with the scents of Near Gone's 400 blooms still heady, as April dawns we spin into a brief flurry of festivals.

FutureEverything (27 Mar - 1 Apr) is now underway in Manchester; our friends The Larks are at Manchester Town Hall for Manchester Histories Festival; and the two day Derelict Live/Talk with LEAP mini-festival starts today Fri 28 up in Preston, continuing tomorrow, Sat 29 Mar with Sturgeon's Law, Jo Bannon, Anna Parker, Massive Owl and our own Leentje Van de Cruys's Kitsch'n'Sync.

Leeds has entered the fray with West Yorkshire Playhouse's Transform 14 (27-30 Mar) including Selina Thompson, Hannah Bruce, Made in China, Third Angel, Hannah Jane Walker + Chris Thorpe and Andy Field + Ira Brand AND the Ludus Festival 2014 (seemingly 29 Mar - 4 Apr) with intriguing installations and interventions: Aria, Life Boat and White Cane.

Next week (w/c 31 Mar) sees Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre on Tue 1 and 12 Degrees North on Thu 3 April at Blackpool Grand; Third Angel's Cape Wrath out and about in Cheshire, courtesy of Axis Arts Centre on Thu 3 April; Made in China's Gym Party  is  at DerelictLive, Preston on Wed 2 and at The Royal Exchange Studio, on 4+5 April. Vincent Dance's Motherland is also on Wed 2 April at West Yorkshire Playhouse;  and Unfinished Business's Change My Mind is on Fri 4 at Theatre in the Mill, Bradford. From Fri 28 to Fri 5 you can drop in on SheepKnuckle's Man vs Artist at Islington Mill: a seven day durational, climaxing at 6pm on Fri 5 April.

We, at Word of Warning of course are twirling into action (!) at Contact with Turn on Fri 4+ Sat 5 April - with 17 pieces of dance across the two nights - so, it will be a real one-stop-shop for eye-watering athleticism and scintillating grace!

Next week, the flurry calms down a lot as we head towards Easter - and WoW even gets a couple of weeks without a show - but there's still a Drunken Chorus/Lindsay Bennett double-bill at Derelict Live; James Wilton at Blackpool Grand and the regular Tale of Whatever at Gullivers Ballroom, Manchester.

See you all for a dance at Turn.

best
