In
a week that saw the pruning of benefits and the severing of the limbs
of quangos, the only Spring growth might be in austerity...
This weekend Verve's Triple Bill is at the New Adelphi Theatre on Sat 15 Mar. Also worth noting, Bobby Baker's An Edible Family In A Mobile Home installation runs until 20 April at the Whitworth.
Over in Liverpool, DaDaFest's DDFI40 continues until 31 Mar.
Next week (w/c 17 Mar) Manchester is very quiet but you can see Lewys Holt's 30 Minute Set at Grosvenor East, MMU courtesy of Future Flares or, but if you're looking for something a bit different and for all ages: Ray Bubbles' A Bubble Variety Show is at Z-arts on Fri 21 Mar (last seen at Social Experiment); or there's A Puppet Musical at the Birch Community Centre on Sat 22 Mar.
Further afield, Sheffield Theatres have Dibby Theatre's Toxic on Thu 20 + Fri 21 Mar and Daniel Bye's Imaginary Friends on Sat 22 Mar.
In Leeds, Maya & Toussaint's An Evening with OKAN is at Yorkshire Dance and Worklight Theatre's It's the Economy, Stupid! is at The Carriageworks both on Fri 21 Mar.
In Liverpool, at the Unity, DaDaFest has Midgitte Bardot's Shooting from Below on Fri 21 and Not Your Circus Dog's Not F**ckin' Sorry on Sat 22 Mar; and at the Bluecoat Dora Colquhoun's Would You Like A Seat on Sat 22 and Rage Reactor on Sat 22 + Sun 23 Mar.
The following week (w/c 24 Mar) Worklight Theatre's It's The Economy, Stupid! is at HOME on Thu 28 + Fri 28 Mar; and Emergence's Triple Bill is at the New Adelphi Theare on Fri 28 + Sat 29 Mar.
It's all go for Scratch Nights: with one at Shakespeare North on Tue 25 Mar and another at Parr Hall, Warrington on Thu 27 Mar. Verve's Triple Bill is at Lancaster Arts on Tue 25 Mar; Dibby Theatre's Toxic is at the Unity, Liverpool on Thu 27 Mar. On Fri 28 Mar, Sam Danson's Bi-Topia is at the Carriageworks, Leeds; while Daniel Bye's Imaginary Friends is at Chester Storyhouse; and DaDaFest has the Eat Me cabaret at District in Liverpool. Intriguingly, on Sun 30 Mar, the student-run FlockFest is at the Riley Theatre, Leeds promising a festival of "live art and performance".
