As a sodden Sunak is upstaged by Labour's 1997 election campaign anthem, his grand Downing Street gesture might be termed a damp squib. As we look forward to 6 weeks of back-biting debate we might need to look elsewhere to radiate joy...

This weekend, today Fri 24 May we are at Manchester School of Theatre with Works Ahead: Radiator at Manchester School of Theatre. Running 5-7pm it's a free, come-and-go, informal sharing featuring Ash Cox, chris brown, E.M. Parry, Heather Alice, ITZATNA, Jamil Keating, Kelvin Atmadibrata, Lauren Greer.

Also, tonight Fri 24 May, Online Selves 2 is at PINK in Stockport; while Manchester Minyanaires is at Manchester Jewish Museum on Sun 26 May.

In Leeds there's Sweet Beef's I Hate It Here on Sat 25 May at Slung Low at The Warehouse, while, in Bristol, Mayfest runs until 26 May.

SICK! at the Simpson Memorial Hall in Moston has Vijay Patel's Brotherly Otherly on Wed 29 May and Frankie Thompson's Catts on Thu 30 May. The Lowry has Brook Tate's Birthmarked (29-31 May) and Short Supply have a Scratch at Islington Mill on Thu 30 May.

In Liverpool, Liz Roche's Sentient is at the Everyman (30 May - 1 June). In Leeds - Gecko direct The Rescue at the Riley Theatre Sat 1 and Sun 2 Jun; while in Sheffield Emergence 2024 is at the Drama Studio.

The following week (w/c 3 Jun)
Rowena Gander's Barely Visible returns to Mancunia, this time at The Lowry on Wed 5 June; while Schechter II's From England With Love is at HOME (6-8 Jun). On a historical note, both Manchester Histories Festival and Universally Manchester run 6-9 Jun.

In Lancaster, The Duke's has Carbon Theatre's The Witness on Fri 7 Jun. On Sat 8 June, Sheffield Theatres have Thatcher-rite; while in Leeds, Emergence 24 is at the Riley Theatre.
