As the UK economy turns the corner - into recession, the only things not receding are the hairline cracks - or aching chasms in the Tory vote.

This weekend, at The Lowry, there's Scratch Nights x New Earth Academy Fri 16 Feb. For some physical spectacle, you could see Ockham's Razor's Tess (until 17 Feb) or, for some great performers, Wise Children's Blue Beard at HOME (until 24 Feb) .  Elsewhere, Imitating the Dog's Frankenstein is at Leeds Playhouse (until 24 Feb); and Eleanor May Blackburn's Does My Fanny Look Big In This? is at Theatre Deli, Sheffield on Fri 16 + 23 Feb.

Next week (w/c 19 Feb) Figs in Wigs' Big Finish is at HOME (21-24 Feb); and Drag & Draw is at PINK in Stockport on Fri 23 Feb.
Further afield, Andy Smith + Lynsey O'Sullivan's A Citizen's Assembly is at Lancaster Arts on Wed 21 Feb; Bi-Topia is at Blackpool Grand on Thu 22 + Fri 23 Feb; while Jenny Sealey's Self-Raising is at Liverpool Everyman on Fri 23 + Sat 24 Feb.

The following week, (w/c 26 Feb) is very quiet: Chris Thorpe's A Family Business is at HOME (29 Feb - 2 Mar) + New Arrangements: Method Over Matter is at PINK in Stockport on Thu 29 Feb. In Leeds, Verve are at the Riley Theatre on Fri 1 Mar.

Meanwhile, we at Word of Warning have a couple of things creeping up this spring: Turn 2024 spins into sight on Fri 22 Mar; while the ante is upped with ELOINA's High Steaks on Sat 27 Apr.
