warnmcr: taking the biscuit...

On this beautiful autumnal morning I'm taking a momentary break from theatrical darkness and technical machinations, as we at Word of Warning stand poised to finally bring Tania Camara's Oreo to an in person audience, tonight, Fri 15 Oct at STUN. Having streamed it, it still surprises me how different the impact feels IRL - it's PWYD, we're keeping to 50% capacity in the space, so do come and join us!

IRL:
Also this weekend, at NIAMOS The Untold Orchestra's Bowie: An Orchestral Rendition is on Fri 15 + Sat 16 Oct; while in Liverpool, Unity has SH!T Theatre's Drink Rum With Expats on Fri 15 + Sat 16 Oct and in Lancaster, the Duke's has Sophie's Birthday on Fri 15 Oct.

Next week, w/c 18 Oct we are back in action with Dani Abulhawa's Concord at the Holden Gallery on Fri 22 Oct. The live development of Mandla Rae's As British As A Watermelon is at Contact (Sat 23 + Mon 25-Wed 27 Oct) as part of Black Gold Arts Festival (19-29 Oct): live, online + in person film including screening of Mele Broome's Wrapped Up In This (21+22 Oct) at Contact. Also live in person, there's My White Best Friend at the Royal Exchange on Sat 23 + Sat 30 Oct.
Corridor of Light also runs 21-23 Oct, along and around Oxford Road; while Journeys Festival(15-24 Oct) sees a mix of installation and digital work.

In Liverpool, Dibby Theatre's The First Time is Unity on Thu 23 Oct; while in Leeds, Quarantine's 12 Last Songs is at Leeds Playhouse on Sat 23 Oct.

The following week, w/c 25 Oct sees the addition of Hofesh Schechter and Emmanuela Yogolelo at HOME; Breaking Barriers in Rochdale; New Art Club in Lancaster; Namiuki Dance Theatre and Enable US Festival in Sheffield; plus the start of Homotopia in Liverpool (and for the very dedicated, Spill Festival in Ipswich!)

And, as ever, keep your eye on new additions to Manchester Independents.

Online:
As previously, Tamzen Moulding's Fall, Wake + Exit  continues until 1 Dec via The Lowry; while HOME's HOMEMAKERS is still running and there's also still MIF Watch On Demand - plus the online offerings from Black Gold Arts Festival and other festivals listed above.  As ever, have a look at Word of Warning's YouTube channel for previous events and Domesticated our home for online video.

Keep checking our News + Information page for more pointers to opportunities and show videos online, and @WarnMcr on Twitter for short-notice performances.

Hope to see you at Oreo tonight!

Best
