Word of Warning...
So, as winter darkness starts to recede, the season is now getting going in earnest - and adrenalin's rising (even if there's no sign of Spring sap yet!) In Manchester, Queer Contact is now in full swing (continuing until 15 Feb - with the first Mother's Ruin of the year tonight) whilst around the region next week there's a real midweek flurry:
On Tue 11 Feb, Liverpool welcomes a newcomer to the scene: The 1st4 platform at Camp + Furnace. Axis Arts Centre, Crewe has Tim Crouch + Andy Smith's What Happens To Hope at the End of the Evening and Live at LICA, Lancaster has Proto-type Theater's The Good, The God and The Guillotine (coming to Word of Warning/Contact Manchester 18 Feb).
Wed 12 Feb sees Sometimes We Play's We Can Be Heroes at the Lowry and the first Tales of Whatever of the year at Gullivers, Oldham Street, while Thu 12 Feb has Geddes Loom's Prelude to a Number at the Lowry (also on Fri 13); LEAP's Love Letters and Other Pointless Scribbles at the Duke's, Lancaster (continues to Fri 13); and Hofesh Schechter's Sun at Blackpool Grand Theatre.
The following week (w/c 17 Feb) in Manchester sees the second Assemble, Kate Tempest's Brand New Ancients at Contact; further afield, 12 Degrees North is at Live at LICA; Flexer + Sandiland at Axis, Crewe and Instant Dissidence at Theatre in the Mill, Bradford.
Of course, without any sense of bias, the highlight of that week will be the start of the Word of Warning Spring 2014 programme, with Proto-type Theater's The Good, The God and The Guillotine at Contact on Tue 18 Feb!
Hope to see you all there!
best
