With the Budget behind us and as Halloween approaches and our own scary prime clown practises juggling the fate of the planet in Glasgow, closer to home it's more about giant puppets and pumpkins...
IRL:This weekend, HOME has Emmanuela Yogolelo's Tales from the Congo Basin (2pm, today Fri 29 Oct) and Hofesh Schechter's Political Mother Unplugged until 30 Oct); while Contact has This House is On Fire on Sat 30 Oct and The Walk has reached the region en route to its its final destination.
In Rochdale Breaking Barriers' Stories We Tell also continues until Sat 30 Oct and there are a few Manchester Independents events still to come in November.
Further afield, in Sheffield Namiuki Dance Theatre's Exploring The Man/Puberty is at Theatre Deli tonight Fri 29 Oct and the Enable US Festival also kicks off (31 Oct - 19 Dec). In Liverpool Homotopia runs until 14 Nov, while in Ipswich I'm sorry to be missing Spill Festival (oh for the days of the travelling livearterati!)
Next week, w/c 1 Nov, Dickson Mbi's Enowate is at The Lowry on Tue 2 + Wed 3 Nov; while in Castlefield Bowl, MIF welcomes The Walk: When the Birds Land also on Wed 3 Nov. There are two climate driven theatrical offerings: at Contact, Ergon Theatre's The Wicked Game and at HOME, Antler's Civilisation both running 3-6 Nov.
Lancaster Arts has Company Carpi's When You Light a Candle on Thu 4 Nov; and in Liverpool at Homotopia, Harry Clayton-Wright hosts You Otter Know on Fri 5 Nov and there's An Evening with David Hoyle on Sat 6 Nov; while Candoco's Double Bill is at Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Leeds also on Sat 6 Nov
The following week, w/c 8 Nov, sees Remi Adam and Ugly Bucket at HOME; and I M Pact, Imitating the Dog and New Art Club at The Lowry. Ergon Theatre and Mandla Rae are at Lancaster Arts; Pursuit of Perfection and Terpsichoring Dance at Leeds Playhouse; New Art Club are also at Chester Storyhouse. Special mention goes to Reverend Billy and the Stop Shopping Choir at Capstone Theatre, Liverpool Hope Uni (despite my best efforts Manchester missed out on their whistle-stop UK tour!)
Online:
Look out for DanteorDie's Skin Hunger on Film (29 Oct-28 Nov) and Tamzen Moulding's Fall, Wake + Exit (until 1 Dec) via The Lowry; HOME's HOMEMAKERS is still running and there's also still MIF Watch On Demand and Unity Online (including catch ups of in person programme). As ever, have a look at Word of Warning's YouTube channel for previous events and Domesticated our home for online video.
Keep checking our News + Information page for more pointers to opportunities and show videos online, and @WarnMcr on Twitter for short-notice performances.
