As
the faint hope of a late summer fades and with the impending Furnace
festival in our sights, we in the WoW office are sitting shivering in
our blankets, eyeing up our defunct fireplace, definitely more hot toddy
than champers...
This weekend things are also looking a bit cool, with a distinctly watery theme to what is on: tonight Fri 8 Sep there's another chance to catch Pool at The Bluecoat, Liverpool (Fri 8 Sep); or Come Find Us: Me & My Whale at Live Art Bistro, Leeds.
Next week (w/c 11 Sep) HOME is busy with Gecko Theatre's The Wedding and Gary McNair's Letters to Morrissey (both 12-16 Sep); while Emma Decent's I Don't Know What I'm Supposed To Be Doing is at the Portico Library on Tue 12 Sep. For a truly cringeworthy link - things warm up over in Leeds with Furnace Festival (11-23 Sep) setting West Yorkshire Playhouse ablaze(!) In its first week it includes Rachel Mars's Joke Translation Service on Tue 12 Sep; and Daniel Bye's Instructions for Border Crossing on Fri 15 + Sat 16 Sep.
The following week (w/c 18 Sept) is mainly dominated by Furnace - with Transcreative, Nic Green and RashDash (also coming to the Royal Exchange the next night). For something a bit different, Contact is delving into the world of football fandom with We're Not Really Here; while AND Festival (21-24 Sep) is taking to the Peaks.
Take advantage of the last vestiges of lull however, as things seriously heat up as we head towards October...
