I can't quite believe it's October already, but the news, yesterday's weather and the ever-glooming evenings all serve to herald this new winter of discontent (and yes I do remember the first one!).
More cheerfully, it was great to see lots of people for Emergency last weekend; and there is definitely an air of normality in terms of things to see - in fact I seem to be clash-juggling left right and centre:
IRL:
Tonight, Fri 1 Oct HOME has Emanuel Bajiiji's Candy Floss (30 Sep - 2 Oct) while Cap & Dove, the travelling micro arts centre reaches its final stop in Wythenshawe on Sat 2 Oct.
Next week, w/c 4 Oct, Contact has CYC's Everything all of the Time (6-9 Oct) while HOME has Jennifer Jackson's Endurance (7-9 Oct) + Cassils's Human Measure on Thu 7 Oct.
The Family Vogue Ball pops up at the Old Courts, Wigan on Sat 9 Oct and The Met, Bury on Sun 10 Oct.
If you've got petrol or want to brave the trains, further afield Imitating the Dog's Dracula: the Untold Story continues at Leeds Playhouse until Sat 9 Oct; while on Wed 6 Oct Katie O'Brien's Catch 22 Years is at Theatre Deli, Sheffield; and Edelia Day's Too Pretty To Punch is at the Duke's Lancaster.
The following week, w/c 11 Oct, HOME has Avital Raz's My Jerusalem on Wed 13 Oct and Victor Esses's Where To Belong
on Thu 14 Oct plus Mark Thomas's 50 Things About Us on Wed 13 + Thu 14 Oct.
Manchester Jewish Museum has Klein Blue + Sophie Ablett's She Seeks Out Wool on Thu 14 Oct; while The Untold Orchestra's Bowie: An Orchestral Rendition is at Niamos on Fri 15 + Sat 16 Oct.
Word of Warning is, of course, back in action with Tania Camara's Oreo at STUN on Fri 15 Oct.
To the west, in Liverpool, Unity has One September/Aleasha Chaunte's Out of the Narrow on Thu 14 Oct and SH!T Theatre's Drink Rum With Expats on Fri 15 + Sat 16 Oct. To the east, in Sheffield, Theatre Deli has Lekhani Chirwa's Can I Touch Your Hair on Thu 14 Oct; while to the north, in Lancaster, the Duke's has Sophie's Birthday on Fri 15 Oct.
Keep your eye on new additions to Manchester Independents; and look out for Journeys Festival(15-24 Oct) with a mix of installation and digital work.
Online:
Brian Lobel + Joon Lyn Goh's Sex with Cancer: the Grand Opening is online via Contact on Thu 7 Oct; while the Lowry has Tamzen Moulding's Fall, Wake + Exit (until 1 Dec) and Take This Test on 8-10 Oct.
HOME's HOMEMAKERS is still running and there's also still MIF Watch On Demand.
As ever, have a look at Word of Warning's YouTube channel for previous events and Domesticated our home for online video.
Keep checking our News + Information page for more pointers to opportunities and show videos online, and @WarnMcr on Twitter for short-notice performances.
