Word of Warning... from a dark box somewhere in deepest Manchester
Spring or even Summer seems to have arrived, but Word of Warning is indulging its darker nature, writing from the red velvet confines of Contact Space 1, midway through Works Ahead. Following a night on the dance edge of performance with flying spaghetti aplenty, Works Ahead returns tonight (Fri 3 May at Contact) with an evening of stories, global and personal, and how they speak to you, courtesy of Lena Simic, Façade Theatre and Wayne Steven Jackson.
Further afield, Live at LICA, continues Curate the Campus (29 April - 10 May); Daniel Bye's The Price of Everything is at Theatre in the Mill, Bradford (2-4 May); and the Jane Packman Company's A Thousand Shards of Glass is at Slung Low's HUB on Sun 5 May.
Following the bank holiday, things to watch out for in Manchester are Tales of Whatever at the Castle on Wed 8 May and, of course, Word of Warning will be continuing our sojourn at Contact with the extraordinary visual feast that is imitating the dog's 6 Degrees Below the Horizon on Thu 9 May bringing our show marathon to a climax.
Also in Manchester in the week ahead are EDge at Z-arts on Thu 9 May and David Toole + Lucy Hind's Extraordinary at Contact on Sat 11 May, plus our stable mates The Larks will also be at Contact on Sat 11 May, play-testing their latest game.
I'm off to plunge back into the dark world of Kurt Cobain and cinematic stories to finish tweaking the lighting for tonight's Works Ahead. Hope to see lots of you at Contact later - I'll be the one emerging blinking from the darkness.
