Tomorrow, Sat 18 Jun: Art Assembly's Taking Up Space, Taking In Space is at Manchester Art Gallery and Melissa Johns's Snatched is at Bolton Octagon. For the young: Family Catwalk Extravaganza (formerly Family Vogue Ball) is at Z-arts and Chrissy Jones's Shadow Girl is at Gorse Hill Studios. 
Much further afield, in Bristol, there's a weekend of Wildness courtesy of IBT.

Next week (w/c 20 Jun) is somewhat dance-tastic: Humanhood's ∞ (Infinite) is at The Lowry on Tue 21 Jun; Hofesh Schechter's Double Murder is at HOME (22-25 Jun); Emergence is at New Adelphi Fri 24 + Sat 25 Jun; while Company Carpi's When you light a candle, you also cast a shadow is at Warrington Museum and Art Gallery on Sat 25 Jun. 

The following week (w/c 27 Jun) Dorcas Seb is at HOME; and Greater Manchester Fringekicks off. Meanwhile, over in Leeds, Yorkshire Dance hosts the Ageless Festival, including work by Emilyn Claid, Angus Balbernie, Eva Recacha + the Royale Dancehall Flamingoes.

While the media has us in a January Sue Gray timewarp, in the real world, somewhow we're creeping towards the end of May and in my world I'm creeping back into the dark realms of a theatre for Works Ahead:

IRL:
This weekend RashDash's Oh Mother continues at HOME until 28 May; while tonight, Fri 20 May Babel Theatre's In Search of Fathers  is at Manchester School of Theatre and Pete the Terrible x Pen:Chant is at The Edge Theatre; while Katherina Radeva's 40 Minutes for 40 yearsis at Media Factory, Preston on Sat 21 May.

Next week (w/c 23 May) for us, it's all about Works Ahead at Contact on Thu 26 + Fri 27 May - a pay what you decide evening with a macabre film about how we see others; a one-man work-in-progress about revolution, hope, and our capacity for change; and a lo-fi solo symphony of words and movement. It features Helena Ascough's Oh What a Clown,  Ross McCaffrey's Sometimes history needs a push + Will Dickie's White Sun.
 
Meanwhile, there's Lip Service's A Life of Laughter at Chorlton High School on Mon 23 May; and on Fri 27 May: Everything I Didn't Say at The Lowry and Seren Marimba's Dawn at Manchester School of Theatre. Included in SICK! Festival is mandla rae's Category Mistake at Anthony Burgess on Tue 24 May; Essi Rossi's Ejaculation Falls at STUN on Wed 25 + Thu 26 May; + Company Chameleon's Witness This in Harpurhey on Sat 28 May. In Liverpool, there's a Scratch Studio at the Everyman on Sat 28 May.

The following week (w/c 30 May) we're back in Bank Holiday hiatus but you can catch Chrissy Jones' Shadow Girl Origins at Manchester Central Library on Wed 1 Jun  - also at Beswick Library on Mon 30 May and, later, at Gorse Hill Studios.

Having been born on a 13th, I generally look upon it favourably - but I did stop short of pushing the button on our NPO application on Friday the 13th (and yes, we did play it as we submitted). Meanwhile, in a world beyond Grantium...

This weekend - RashDash's Oh Mother continues at HOME until 19 May); while the Debut student festival ends today at the New Adelphi theatre. Company Chameleon's The Shadow is at NSCD's Riley Theatre in Leeds on Sat 14 May while  Mayfest kicks off in Bristol  until 29 May.

Next week (w/c 16 May) Rowena Gander's Barely Visible is at Sale Waterside on Wed 18 May; and on Fri 20 May Performance Research Group/Babel Theatre's In Search of Fathers  is at Manchester School of Theatre and Pete the Terrible x Pen:Chant is at The Edge Theatre.

This weekend - SICK! Festival kicks off in Moston, while in Leeds, CLAYground has Daniel Oliver's The Board Game on and Barnsley Civic has Two Desinatation Language's Faultines both on Fri 6 May.

Next week (w/c 9 May) Candoco's Set and Reset... is at the Lowry on Tue 10 + Wed 11 May; Between Tiny Cities at Contact (10-12 May); RashDash's Oh Mother at HOME (12-19 May); while the Debut student festival is at the New Adelphi theatre 11-13 May.

On this April Fool's morning, it's the weather that appears to be pulling the biggest pranks, overshadowed only by the general wind-up that is the cost of living... In performance world April seems very much to be offering up an Easter lull. 

IRL:
This weekend: this afternoon, Fri 1 Apr, University of Salford's Adelphi Theatre may or may not have a Non-event while tonight Nothing Happens (Twice) at The Lowry (until 2 Apr) and Contact hosts Platform's The Showcase.

Also tonight, Fri 1 Apr in Sheffield, the University has Untold Dance Theatre's On the Insidewhile in Leeds,  Tom Cassani is at CLAYground and Transform has Sable Radio's A Soft Raptureand Rachel Mars's Forge (until Sat 2 Apr).

The next weeks of April seems pretty quiet. You can catch DIS:Play on Sat 9 Apr at Contact and Victor Esses's The Death And Life Of All Of Us on Thu 13 Apr at Manchester Jewish Museum. In the week commencing 18 Apr Theo Clinkard  and Jean Daniel Brouss are at The Lowry and Artesbandes, Bertrand Lesca + Nasi Voutsas are at HOME.

Further afield, Victoria Firth's How to be Amazingly Happy is in Sheffield on Wed 6 April and Amanda Piña's Frontera is in Leeds on Fri 8 + Sat 9 Apr. Also coming up at CLAY in Leeds is Howl Yuan's Impossible Homecoming (12-16 Apr) and Will Dickie is at Unity, Liverpool on Thu 21 Apr (coming to Manchester in May).

As Spring makes a bid to be the new Summer, and the clocks spring forward this Sunday, we also see the last couple of weeks of the pre-Easter performance flurry. Be sure to keep checking for latest info as cancellations are still high.

This weekend, tonight Fri 25 Mar is the Manchester Writers for Ukraine event at the Kings Arms. While tomorrow, Sat 26 Mar Submerge concludes with Protest! A Live Art Takeover at Manchester Art Gallery then Club Submerge at Soup. Further afield Seahorse promenades round Chester Storyhouse on Sun 27 Mar. 
Spanning this and next week, Miray Sidhom's The Bread We Break is at Contact Fri 25 + Sat 26 Mar and 29-31 Mar. 

Next week (w/c 28 Mar) on the afternoon of Tue 29 Mar you can see Verve's Triple Bill at University of Salford's Adelphi Theatre; or if you dare risk it given the date, they may or may not have a Non-event on April Fool's Day. Nothing Happens (Twice) at The Lowry 31 Mar-2 Apr and Contact hosts Platform's The Showcase on Fri 1 Apr.
